Iyengar yoga is the union / integration of the physical body with the mind and the spirit. We cannot separate the physical body from the mind and the spirit.
Integration means that our mind, body and awareness are all connected through a physical, emotional and mental synthesis. When we are open in our physical, emotional and mental states we are in union with everything. A good yoga practice allows us to create that space and stillness, where we cease to struggle and become at peace with ourselves in our thoughts and actions.
My greatest joy as a teacher is helping students to develop and progress a happy, healthy and safe yoga practice that enables them to find that inner peace and space. We are all individuals, shaped by our different life experiences and beliefs, as well as our physical and mental challenges (the landscape of who we are). As a yoga teacher, this landscape is important to understand. By limiting my classes to six students, I have the time to get to individually know my students. This allows me to work one-on-one, individually customizing and adjusting poses throughout class, making my classes suitable for all levels, young and old.
As a certified Iyengar practitioner, my classes in Mosman and Neutral Bay, do focus on correct alignment required for developing strength, mobility and stability in the asanas (poses). Props such as belts, blocks, chairs and blankets are used to ensure the asanas are performed correctly and safely, allowing the body to open further. Classes are conducted in a supportive environment, accompanied by a taste of humour. Come and enjoy!
I have enjoyed yoga with Kimberley for about 6 years and cannot recommend her highly enough. Her classes are varied and interesting and definitely a challenge each week! Good for the body and the mind.
I have been a student of Kimberley’s for over 5 years and love the way her small classes cater for both the young and old , and experienced and novice person . I will be staying with her for many years to come.
